Cryotherapy – also known as Frotox – has finally launched in the UK after a year of research, but what is it and does it actually work?

Studies have shown that clients undergoing the “Frotox” treatment, report fewer wrinkles and the big news is that Frotox in non-toxic. There is another advantage for Frotox over Botox though. Botox takes a few days to start working, while Frotox is instant.

The cost of the Frotox is said to be the same as Botox, some physicians state that Frotox is less reliable.  Frotox is currently in trials for the USA market.

Dr. Prager told the Daily Mail, “If you are one of the unfortunate people who frown or squint while they are concentrating at the screen then, over time, you will inevitably end up with frown lines.”

“What is perhaps more surprising is the number of women with saggy jowls because they are sitting in one position for so long.”

What was most alarmingly noted is that people in their 20’s are spending an increasingly number of hours glued to a computer screen and thus sagging, lines and wrinkles related to the use of electronic devices is only going to increase.

So what is a working girl or guy to do?  It was recommended to place a mirror by your computer and glance over to see if you furrow your brow, squint or grimace frequently when at the computer and take frequent screen breaks, or a little Botox may help prevent the movements that cause the wrinkles in the first place.

 The FDA recently approved the use of the silicone “gummy bear” implant.  The 410 implant by Allergan is an anatomically-shaped, textured, silicone cohesive gel implant that is much firmer than the previous silicone gel implants.

To better understand what these are and how they differ from currently available options, let’s talk facts. First, the Gummy Bear Implants are simply silicone breast implants that are “semi-solid” and more highly cohesive than their predecessors. You can literally cut through the implant with a pair of scissors and the two halves will actually keep their shape.

But because these implants are more cohesive, they are also firmer than previous implants and more likely to retain a specific shape. There are only two implants which actually fit this description: the Sientra approved last year and the 410 from Allergan Corporation. Both of these implants differ from previous devices not only in the fact that they are more highly cohesive but also that they are anatomically shaped and have a textured surface (as compared to the more commonly used smooth surfaced implant). This anatomic shape can be very helpful in cases where a woman has very little to no breast tissue and so would benefit from an underlying form which can then essentially create a breast shape.

Because the gummy bear implants are textured it takes a skilled surgeon’s hand.

1) Incorporate Plants

Not into your decorating but into your diet! Green veggies like kale and spinach provide the necessary nutrients (e.g., protein, minerals and vitamins) to nurture and support skin health.

2) Avoid Excess Caffeine and Alcohol

Alcohol turns to sugar in the body, and too much sugar can damage skin cells; while caffeine can result in skin inflammation.

3) Rejuvenate with Winter Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing can treat a variety of skin imperfections including wrinkles, uneven skin pigmentation, enlarged pores, acne, scars and more. And winter is the best time of year for laser skin resurfacing because your skin is less exposed to direct sun, which needs to be limited post procedure.

4) Avoid Too Much Sodium

A high-sodium diet is one of the main causes of fluid retention, and fluid retention can make your skin look puffy. Cutting sodium intake to 1500 mg a day or less will do wonders for your skin (and your blood pressure).

5) Avoid Spicy Foods

Though spicy foods can be delicious, they can also be terrible for your skin – especially if you have fair skin. Spicy foods can cause your face to appear red and blotchy. They can also aggravate an episode of Rosacea.

6)  Wear Sunscreen

Remember to wear sunscreen, especially if you are hitting the slopes or are outside for extended periods of time.

SIRT6 protein not only suppresses tumors (helps suppress cancer), it may also offer a protection against the development of obesity and help control our cellular metabolism.

Researchers from Harvard Medical School and Michigan Health System conducted the study and also noted that without this protein tumors may increase in size, numbers and aggression. Cancers that may be most affected by the loss of the SIRT6 protein are colon and pancreatic cancers.

Researchers from the University of California, Berkeley conducted a study on mice focusing on the chemical SIRT3. Found in the mitochondria, the chemical is responsible for the cell’s life and death and has an important role in the way that blood cells deal with stress. According to some studies, the gene is activated in certain animals when calories are restricted, causing the species to live longer lives. Researchers decided to see what would happen if the gene that produces SIRT3 was deactivated.

Researchers are not sure whether over expressing SIRT3 would help extend lifespan, but that is not their main goal anyway. They hope that studying the gene could help treat age-related illnesses.

Hopefully additional research with this genes will lead to major discoveries in both reversing the hands of time and preventing or curing cancer.
