There can be no question or argument that mechanical facial cleansing, physically and directly removing dirt, makeup and skin debris, is the most effective means of cleaning debris from your skin. What about exfoliation? We all know that dead skin cells make your skin look old and dull. Most of you use an exfoliant […] Read More

Bridal Beauty Bootcamp Update!

We have another update from Linda! The process begins…I had my Botox treatment yesterday – a series of injections in my brow, forehead and crow’s feet area. Injected with a small needle, the sensation was little more than a pin prick; I think the anticipation is worse than the feeling. I was told to stop taking aspirin or any supplements that could thin the blood (Vitamin E, Fish Oil) for 10 days before the procedure. Bleeding can cause bruising. Nikki told me there might be red spots or swelling on the skin after, but that didn’t happen for me. There really are few documented side effects other than that. Over […] Read More

How Do You Feel About Aging?

Check out this really interesting article on aging… “Aging is unavoidable. However, how people deal with the changes they see in their appearance as they age and how they view the aging process varies widely. While there are more options than ever for those who want to improve their appearance and maintain a more youthful look as they get older through both surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures, individuals’ perceptions of how they look vary greatly. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Vivian Diller, a psychologist, former model and dancer as well as the co-author of the book “Face It: What Women Really Feel as Their Looks Change,” […] Read More

Lasers and Fillers Can Restore Your Hands, Creams Will Nourish Them

Rule #1: Protect your hands from the sun. Do you still recognize your hands? If the answer is “yes,” you probably have not hit your middle fifties. Hands that have done dishes, changed diapers, scrubbed bathtubs, gardened and gripped the steering wheel in the noonday sun are likely to be paper dry, wrinkly, veiny and spotty. For all that good work, you deserve a reward. Instead, you have hands that give away your age. No good deed goes unpunished. After constant hand washing while tending a sick husband, a 52-year-old reporter was horrified by the appearance of her hands. Over a six-month period she tried in-office and home treatments, targeting […] Read More

How New Light Based Technologies Can Minimize the Signs of Long-Term Sun Damage

Not all lights are created equal. Some are visible to the human eye as colors. Others, though not perceivable, produce long-lasting biological effects. For example, ultra-violet (UV) light (10-400 nm), which comes to us in the flavors of UVA, UV B, and UVC (though little of the latter reaches the earth), is well known to alter our skin cells at the genetic level, causing DNA damage. The result: aged, weathered skin; precancerous skin lesions known as actinic keratoses (AKs), and in the worst-case scenario, skin cancer. Yet there are other types of light that can help fight these problems. An emerging field of light-based technologies, known by names such as […] Read More

Bro-tox? Increasingly Popular Gift for Men

ABC News recently reported on Bro-tox an increasingly popular gift for men. Actor Johnny Markoudakis told ABC that he got Botox injections in his forehead and around his eyes, and a week later people told him he looked more refreshed. But Bro-tox patients include more than just actors, models and metrosexuals, according to ABC. For instance, Marc from Detroit is 38 and works at a chemical company. “I do a lot of industrial type work, getting dirty. … And I restore old cars,” Marc told ABC. When he started noticing that he had some wrinkles and that he was looking older, his wife decided to get him Botox for Christmas. […] Read More
