Is it Safe?
Laser hair removal is a safe and effective alternative. It is an FDA-approved process of permanent hair reduction that can safely be used on the face, as well as the body.

Does it Hurt?
Laser Hair Removal is not as painful as electrolysis and waxing. It’s often even less painful that those bothersome shaving nicks. Many describe the sensation like a mild pinch or sting. Pain medication and anesthesia are hardly ever needed. Unlike electrolysis, which treats one hair at a time, laser removal can treat massive quantities of hair at one time.

What Can I Expect After Treatments?
Immediately afterwards, patients can expect to experience a mild swelling or redness. It may seem similar to a sunburn.In up to 7-10 days, the treated hair will be shed. Patients can also expect to avoid any waxing or tweezing in between treatments. However, you can shave 3-4 days after treatment.

What Should I Know Before Treatment?
While laser treatment is most effective on skin that is not tan, our New Haven facility is equipped with 3 different kinds of lasers so that we can treat all skin types.
It does require multiple treatments to receive the most effective results. It is usually estimated that up to 5-8 treatments may be needed, but WebMD estimates the average number to be closer to 3-5 treatments.
Laser treatment is most effective on brown and black hair, not on blonde or gray hair. If you have light hair, then you may need to consider electrolysis instead.
No waxing or tweezing for up to 4-6 weeks before treatment. This temporary removes the hair root, which is needed for the laser treatment to work. However, the area must be shaved 1-2 days beforehand.
Additionally, since sun exposure can inversely impact laser efficiency and increase the risk of complications, sun exposure should be limited. It is recommended that sun exposure be limited both before and after treatments, for up to 6 weeks.
Since hair grows in cycles, in 4-8 weeks after your session, the next cycle will be in growth and ready for the next round of treatment.
